Bio

FavoriteQuotation:

“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.” Douglas Adams

Why I Teach:

I am privileged to be a part of the lives of children. I feel a strong sense of service to them. In teaching history to my students, I hope to help them create a better future.

Education and Training:

The University of Oklahoma, Bachelor of Science in Education (2004)

Where I have lived:

I was born in St. Louis, and lived there until I was 11. My family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, and lived there for four years. We then moved back to St. Louis, where I completed high school. I attended the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, I moved to Plano, Texas.

My Professional Experience:

I began as a long-term substitute for 12th grade government at Lake Highlands High School. I then became the teacher for the first 6th grade class at St. Joseph in 2006. I have been at this school for well over 15 years! I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the creation of the middle school here at St. Joseph. This is truly my home because it is where my heart is.

My Family:

My mother and father are from St. Louis and currently live in Texas. I have an older brother living in Overland Park, Kansas. The majority of my family lives in St. Louis. I married Judd Hale and we have a sweet baby girl.  Judd's fantastic family resides in Arlington and Fort Worth.  I am still Miss Proe to most of my students, though!

Something you might not know about me:

I have visited the locations in Salzburg, Austria, where the Sound of Music was filmed! It was utterly delightful!  I try to travel as much as possible to the places in the world that I teach about. A friend and I travel around Europe to take in all the history and science we can get. Last year we traveled to Ireland and Scotland, and this year we visited Belgium and the Netherlands.  The sky's the limit!

My prayer for my students:

Dear Lord, watch over my students as they grow in their lives and in their faith. Show them the path to their future, that they may aspire to do the greatness that you have given them.

Amen
